How to Bulk Update Item Records in Odyssey


  1. Click on Imports in the Navigation Panel
  2. Click on the Bulk Updates tab
  3. Click +Start Bulk Update
  4. Select an item to bulk update > Select the collection containing the item records you would like to update
  5. Name your bulk update with something that you will recognize later.
    1. If you would like to update all items in that collection, enter a number larger than your total item records in that collection in the Row Count box.
    2. If you would like to update a certain section of items in that collection, you can specify a selection of items to include by entering the “Order” number of the first item to update (find it in the collection tab), and entering the total number of rows (items) to include after the first item to update (ex: enter 5 if you want to update the next 5 items in succession)
  6. Wait for the bulk update sheets to be generated.
  7. Once each sheet shows that all rows have been exported in the Total Rows column, you can open each file and make your edits.
  8. Open each import file by clicking on the pencil icon under Actions, and edit the metadata for the items you would like to update in the appropriate columns

  9. Return to the import page in Odyssey and click the upload button under Actions for each import file
  10. After the import files have been uploaded, click Continue to the next stage 
  11. On the Correct Errors page, correct any errors using the magnifying glass or by deleting your entries
  12. Click Save
  13. Click on the upload button for each item type and upload all digital assets listed on the page
  14. Once all your assets have been uploaded for each media type, click Finish with this media type
  15. Then click Next: Finished and your import is complete
