How to Suggest Changes to Odyssey Lists: Person, Place, Organization, or Watercraft

Here are the steps to add to an authority list or to edit an existing list entry for profiles. We define a profile as: a narrative with supporting metadata that describes and provides historical context for a person, place, organization or watercraft, and that serves to relate items from within one or more groups’ digital collections to each other. A profile for a person is called a biography. There is a more complete “How to” for suggesting a Place list items.

If the name of the person, place, organization, or watercraft you are looking for is not available, select “Lists” in the far-left menu of Odyssey and then search for and select the appropriate list. Next, select “Add Entry.” Complete the metadata fields that appear and click “Suggest” at the bottom.

If the person, place, organization, or watercraft is already listed: click the edit pencil on the list of entries, edit the fields that you wish to change, and click “Suggest” at the bottom of the entry form.

We will adjust the authority list and notify you when the entry is available. It is best if you provide a unique image for any biography entry: be sure to complete the Image Credit Line metadata field.

Reminder: The Odyssey Data Dictionary is a quick reference for History Trust members using Odyssey Preservation Software. We highly recommend using this as a reference for completing the metadata fields in profiles.
