On December 3, 2020, I interviewed Bruce Jacobson as part of the Mount Desert Island Historical Society’s Chebacco Chats live webinar series. Bruce told us about the History Trust, a collaborative of 12 island collecting organizations that have committed to the goal of making their historical collections accessible to the public on a common digital platform. Bruce showed examples of how the system works and some favorite materials from the collection.

Chebacco is the annual magazine of Mount Desert Island Historical Society. It is sent free to members of the Society. Copies may be purchased for $20 each.

Tim spent 25 years as a healthcare executive, and then decided he’d rather be a historian. In 2009 he enrolled in the University of Maine’s graduate program in History and worked as an interpretive ranger at Acadia National Park before landing his dream job as Executive Director of the Mount Desert Island Historical Society. Tim was awarded a Master of Arts degree in History in May 2014. Tim is retiring from his current position as the Society’s Historian January 1, 2021.
